Game won't launch

My distant worlds universe game corrupted and I had to reinstall it.
Reinstall went fine.
Checked for updates I have the latest version.
I double click the desktop icon and the starts to load.
At the point where it stops putting up messages during the start up process and begins
to change over to the first menu I get the message that distant worlds has encountered a problem and windows
is closing the program. Windows will search for a solution to the problem.
I am left with the only option to "close program".
Totally dead in the water.

Please try disabling the intro video.

For disabling the video intro:
Open the game folder and locater a file named "Startup.ini". Edit this file and replace PLAYMOVIE 1 with PLAYMOVIE 0. Save the file.
