Can this be implemented with model types?

Post by GaryChildress »

What I would like to do is have standard models of different vehicle types which can be augmented with various
capabilities such as anti-tank, anti-aircraft, mortars, etc.
For example there would be a standard model light utility vehicle.
This light utility vehicle could be armed with an anti-tank weapon, or an anti-aircraft weapon or a mortar (for example).

I have almost no idea how the model designer works or how to set it up in the editor but
is it possible to implement this through the model designer? In other words could I set it up so that stats like
a unit's combat ability against armor could be changed form say 0 to something higher if I were to choose an
anti-tank version of the vehicle?

Thanks.

Yes you could. Admittedly the documentation is terrible.

But this mechanic is already implemented (in a very minimal way) in the New Dawn masterfile.

Best wishes,

Many thanks for the reply, Vic! That is encouraging news. Now I just need to figure out how to implement the idea through the editor. :)

What you are looking for is the 'ALTER' button in the model designer (before production has commenced only).

It allows certain events to be called that can change the statistics of your new SFType.

Try it out first in a New Dawn game and then check the model tabs in the SFType window of the editor.

Good luck.

Many thanks again, Vic!

This is sort of a preview of what I have in mind. For example, the player would start out with a basic chassis, such as a heavy armored car and then, through the model designer different alterations could be made. So in the gif below I have various configurations for the chassis, including an Armored Gun System, Anti-Tank, Infantry Fighting Vehicle, Personnel Carrier and Surface to Air Missile versions.

Then of course the same could be done with other basic vehicle chassis. Here is a similar mix for a medium armored car platform. [:)]
