Mustang unit values

Post by MTTODD »

Hi,

Firstly I know unit values can be a tricky topic, and its never going to be perfect.

But saying all that I do think that the P51 values are way off!

They have 17 v large air (why so high? they don't have cannons to shoot down large bombers!)

15 small air (It was good but no better than the top Japanese fighters)

16 air defence (again really high in comparison to top Japanese fighters)

When you compare this with the Ki-84 Frank, which was comparable to the P51, it has 15 v large,13 v small & 12 air defence.

I have not yet seen the Corsair values, but I guess they have similar inflated values compared to the Frank for example.

Any chance the next update could have more realistic values ?

Many thanks.

Still a great game!

IF they had good fuel.
IF they were in good condition.
IF they had a good pilot.
THEN they were a match for any Allied aircraft. The engine was high maintenance. Good fuel was hard to come by. Pilots were rarely given enough time to train properly. So yeah, good aircraft, crappy logistics. I guess the game designers had to do something to simulate the horrible state of Japanese logistics.

On the other hand Allied pilots were well trained, logistics were second to none and fuel was never a problem.

If duct tape doesn't fix it then you are not using enough duct tape.

Hi,

Yes I agree completely with what you say regarding Japanese logistic and pilot quality factors, only I thought that the unit values did not model those ?

Could a developer confirm if that is true ? if not then the Ki-84 should have similar values to the Mustang.

But that still does not explain why Mustang has such high value v Large aircraft ? Higher than the Thunderbolt for example, which has more guns and can take more punishment.

Many thanks.

We are constantly doing big and small unit rebalancing passes. Perhaps aircraft will be reviewed against as well soon.

I was under the impression that the mustang "was one of the best WW2 aircraft" however. What makes you say the top Japanese aircraft were up to par or better? I find it quite difficult to find detailed, non biased, details on their (combat) performance.
