Bombur mod v1.15

Post by Bombur »

v1.15 adds custom infantry to every country. While infantry SFT´s are still generic, they will be added to a given country force in their historical year. For instance, USA will get the semiautomatic Rifle by 1936, while Italy and Japan must research it as a "what is if" tech. This was achieved by creating multiple items for each infantry SFT. As a result, some confusion was created in the blocking of old items. This will be fixed in the future, but it´s a small price to be paid for a more realistic gamepley.

I downloaded this mod today for the first time. It looks like there is no readme etc. so I have some questions.

1. OMG, why so huge movement for everything? 6 hexes for infantry, half of the map for AC?
2. Do I really have to wait for my first technology 7 years? With the time scale 1 year = 24 turns that means something about 150 turns? Isn't that ridiculous?

Hi Madlok, first of all, thank you for your interest.

1-Movement rates are based on 50k/hex and 15 day turn, so, yes, they are pretty fast, but not faster than in real life. The increased speed is somewhat mitigated by the readiness losses you suffer (simulating breakdowns of motorized equipment, maybe we should also include attrition for infantry)
2-No need to wait 7 years for a new tech, you will receive new techs each three months, of course, not all of them will give you new units.

OK, it make sense. But IMO for a turn based game too much movement is a bad thing. I must check how this works in the real multiplayer game. I see that in this game not only terrain types but enemy territory and ZoC slow down units.

You´re right, I will check the values for enemy territory penalty.
