Lend Lease scrambled???
So the U.S. declares war, LEND lease disappears except 80 points via Persia to Russia???
RE: Lend Lease scrambled???
I think I noticed that also. This screen shot is from near the end of my game [April 1947]. I am the Axis playing against the Allied computer. If this is a straight up report with no misrepresentations due to fog of intelligence, then there is no USA-USSR lending ? Maybe the UK is handling it ?
I also had grabbed this screenshot because it seemed odd for the USA. I had been watching this screen for many turns, and while I don't know about the UK [although I had taken the Middle East which may have crippled them], the USSR steadily went down from around 1200 to where it is now. I had taken Leningrad, Moscow and Stalingrad during that time so maybe this is normal ? However, the USA never moved from its' base of 805. Meanwhile, my axis base was around 1200. I would kind of expect that no matter how good I was doing, the USA would probably still beat me in the MPP race.

RE: Lend Lease scrambled???
CSS, is it this Decision you're referring to:
DE 304 - USA: Ship Supplies to the USSR via Vladivostock?
Event fires: When the USSR is Allied and has entered the war, and the USA is Allied with a mobilization level of at least 50%, but isn't fully mobilized.
Cost of accepting: For a charge of 25 MPPs a turn to the USA, the USSR will receive 50 MPPs a turn. This represents the difference in importance of the goods to both countries.
Yes: The USSR receives funds representing goods shipped across the Pacific. Supplies will cease either when the US's mobilization level drops below 50%, or when the USA enters the war.
No: Nothing.
If so then it ceases when the USA enters the war as it is considered to also be at war with Japan.
I did find conflicting evidence on whether or not US ships continued to sail to Vladivostock after Pearl Harbor, and not having found anything conclusive and authoritative that said they did continue sailing across the Pacific until the end of the war, without hindrance from Japan, I have erred on the side of caution.
I know that Wikipedia says that they did continue sailing to Vladivostock throughout the war, with links to a few articles, but I have read elsewhere (can't remember where now) that they ceased.
If anyone has authoritative knowledge of this then please let me know. [:)]

RE: Lend Lease scrambled???
One thing we don't currently have, and perhaps should consider, would be an increase in US income following the end of the war in the Far East.
In the next build the transfer of MPPs via Persia will also be more likely to happen and continue than before as the trigger positions have changed.

RE: Lend Lease scrambled???
Check Appendix A in Albert Seaton's book The Russo-German War.
Western aid to the USSR June 1941 to September 1945, in tons:
Persian Gulf 4,159,117
North Atlantic 3,964,231
Pacific 8,243,397
The reason was that all Soviet freighters were transferred to the Pacific and many US vessels were transferred to the Soviet flag.
My conclusion from this info is that if other routes were closed by Axis advances, the material would have been rerouted to the Pacific, resulting in delays but not have any impact on the overall amount delivered.

Is there any provision for the German increase in production when Speer took over ? I don't recall any news, and the historical numbers were significant.

Would be great if a Speer message would appear once the Germans have reached a certain industry / production / logistics (or a combination between them) tech level.
"Free" additional income just because of the historical person shouldn't be part of the game.

RE: Lend Lease scrambled???
Germany didn't go to full wartime production until 1942, and Hitler put Speer in charge. I don't see why it shouldn't be a very important part of the game."Free" additional income just because of the historical person shouldn't be part of the game.
German production of tanks more than doubled in 1943, production of planes increased by 80 percent, and production time for Kriegsmarine's submarines was reduced from one year to two months.

This could actually be represented similar to how USA, France, UK all ramp up industry in the game (if I remember correct). I actually support the idea to have an event representing Germany increase in production in 1942-1943. This can be represented by supply of some smaller towns or even the Ruhr industries. This would lower initial German MPP output.

Thanks for this. It's funny, I've read lots of WWII books but there are always some aspects missed which someone else will have the info on. Much appreciated. [:)]
One thing that will be very hard, virtually impossible to do in fact, would be to have this lend lease halted during the period when the USSR and Japan were briefly at war.
That said, I doubt that the Japanese interfered much with it so it probably doesn't matter.

I did consider that but unfortunately it's very hard to find a reasonable number of German resources that if kept at zero supply wouldn't impede Operational movement in one direction or another.
There are a few towns here and there perhaps, but their impact would be minimal, so a little reluctantly I opted for just having the great economic strides made by Speer to be represented by Production and Industrial Technology.

RE: Lend Lease scrambled???
How about some off map resources for USSR? They could be kept at zero until 1942 and onwards. At some point in early 1942 when USA is at war have a US decision event to spend a few MPPs to "re-flag" the Pacific freighters and ramp up transfers to Vladivostok. You could then have the off map resources start to gain strength. This would also help make the USSR a little stronger into those later years when they may be losing alot of other resources.

Hi David
What I did last night was to add new scripts to keep the transfer via Vladivostock going after the US enters the war.
That won't be in the next build, but as many other changes will it'll be interesting to hear back on balance and then we can go from there to see how much more is needed. [:)]
