Novice German dealing with Pripyat

Does the German player have to move through the marshes to find any hidden or routed Soviet units? Or does one garrison the edges?

Once you seal off the whole of it it all turns German except for any ZOC areas the Russians may have. In the meantime use recon the keep an eye on prowling Russian forces and screen the marshes as necessary.
