War in the West OSX MAC

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

War in the West OSX MAC

Post by ve4 »

Is there a way to run witw reliably on a mac? I followed the steps on the one thread I could find regarding but have not been able to get it working. ...Yes, I know Macs are terrible for gaming.

Am running 10.9.5 (Mavericks) on a mbp. Thx

install Windows on your Mac via Boot Camp and reboot into Windows whenever you want to play this or any other game that requires windows
Windows 11 Pro 64-bit (10.0, Build 26100) (26100.ge_release.240331-1435)

Thanks Zak, this solution worked.

Installed win 8.1 and running 10.9.5 on mid 2104 rmbp w/ 1TB internal SSD

A few notes for other Mac Users wary of or unfamiliar with bootcamp.

- Bootcamp partition will not affect existing data on a previously un-partitioned drive (typically)
- Used bootable usb method with all options checked
- Do not have any other devices (i.e. monitors, alt keyboard, mouse, etc.) connected except the bootable usb and power supply or you will encounter errors
- In my case the partition was not named "bootcamp" in windows. Navigate to the partition of specified size; format in windows and it should work (typically)
- Need to tweak the native resolution in windows for the in-game text to display correctly

Parallels Desktop works quite well too. I had it on my Mac for work reasons, and WitW/E work just fine in either W7 or W10.

+1 for Parallels, it's great for anything not requiring heavy lifting from your graphics card, and even then, it's functional. It's nice not to have to reboot to use a Windows application, too.

Bumping an old thread, but i am able to get WitW running unpatched on wineskin, but as soon as I apply the patch and try again it crashes. Anyone else see this and may have any hints? Are there any good exe flags to use that may help here?
