"Supermoon" to light up Earth on November 14

Post by MakeeLearn »

If you only see one astronomical event this year, make it the November supermoon, when the Moon will be the closest to Earth it’s been since January 1948.

During the event, which will happen on the eve of November 14, the Moon will appear up to 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than an average full moon. This is the closest the Moon will get to Earth until 25 November 2034, so you really don’t want to miss this one.

Complete overcast here. No chance at all to see the moon. [:(]

Saw it this morning and to be truthful I found it hard to tell the difference in size. Maybe it was just me but it looked like any other full moon I've seen over the years.

Got a great view coming up over the field. Not a cloud in the sky. Has a yellow tint and a big glow.

I am not sure I can tell it is bigger or brighter, but in a cool, crisp, clear night sky it sure is pretty.
