BP Lending USA to FF

Post by ashkpa »

Here is the latest reincarnation of my issues with BP lending. I am at Final Production. Note, I did get this to work at Preliminary Production, but now at Final Production it is not working. I did get a message once in my playing around about not being able to change BP source in Final Production, but that message has not consistently shown up.

In this and the next few posts I'll walk you through the issue and my actions. The image below shows the situation when loading the saved game file (available in a few posts).
The USA is lending one BP to Russia, CW, and FF.
The ones to Russia and CW are getting through no problem (and their defaults show them going to the correct countries)
There is one in the "No Path" category, though the program shows it has a default to Russia (don't know why - but it had the same issue in preliminary, but I was able to work through that then following the procedure in the next post).

Next post will discuss what I did.

So, now if I click on the Build Point column for the No Path BP, select Sau Paulo and then recompute I get the second image.
There is no longer a BP in the No Path category. There are only 2 BP being lent and the total BP's available for the US to use is now 61 (up from the correct 60).

Here is the game file to start with to get this issue when following these steps.

If I try to change the default and the country, then it get's to the point that it will not let me change the BP source (the recompute button just stays greyed out). I will get the message about not being able to change the source of a BP during final production, if I try to change the default trade country for a BP.

Since, my inability to fix this as I did during preliminary production seems to be related to the restriction on changing BP sourcing during final production, would it be possible to eliminate that restriction until the basic issue is fixed. As indicated in earlier post around this issue, the program does not appear to save BP lending information through the save/restore game process. In this case, it also seemed to have lost it over night, though I did keep the game on to avoid the save/restore issues I've had in the past.

For the past couple of days I've been working on your original thread concerning this issue.[:@] tm.asp?m=4130453

So far I am just badly confused as to why the program changes the point of origination for wrong resource (i.e., BP).[&:]

Thanks for all of your efforts. I'm sure you'll find it eventually. Probably something as simple as a missing ";", or at least that was the source of many of my problems back in the day.

I've fixed this (version 02.02.08.04). The problem was with identifying which resource was being changed. Prior to NetPlay all was well. But for NetPlay the change had to be sent to all computers, and the characteristics identifying which resource were ambiguous.

This did take me 4 days to figure out.
