OT: "Kingdom Come: Deliverance"

Post by Yaab »

"Kingdom Come: Deliverance" is an upcoming RPG game that takes place in 15th century Bohemia, Europe (nowadays Czech Republic). The developers went for total(?) realism and decided to reconstruct dozens of square kilometers of medieval Bohemia as it were in year of our Lord 1403. If they get alchemy and religion right, we will finally get a worthy successor to the GREAT "Darklands", published by Microprose in 1992. There are several game vids on YouTube and they blew me away with the dev team's attention to detail. Those villages, woods, meadows... Just WOW!

I hope this game will be the medieval equivalent of WITP:AE in terms of realism and attention to detail.

I guess if the game is successful, they will go for the Hussite wars in the sequel.

I backed this game when it first was announced through Kickstarter (got some nice bonuses as well).

Looking forward to how it develops. An RPG set in a non-fantasy, historical, medieval Holy Roman Empire will be a breath of fresh air. Tired of all the dragons in video games these days.

You backed it? Chapeau bas!

I was totally oblivious to the game existence unless I randomly stumbled a post by some forumite, who said the game developers had faced some backlash as the game includes white persons only. Seems "Witcher 3" got some criticism for doing the same thing.

Thank you for the information

I am certainly interested, although I won't purchase until it leaves "beta" status

EDIT: It reminds me of "Mount and Blade" which is quite an excellent game; best horse fighting mechanics you can find in any game whatsoever

I tried Mount and Blade a few years ago. Attempting the mounted combat, I quickly found out:

1. I am really bad at it; and

2. The constant up and down screen motion was giving me nausea.

So that was the end of my illustrious career in that game! [:o]

I don't know how the combat mechanics of this new game are. Maybe I can persuade my son to give it a try. He likes medieval combat and would probably be a lot better at it than I.

You should try buying a "Xbox type" PC controller; it is relatively cheap ($30 to $40 range) and it certainly help in terms of interfacing with "action" games. M&B is not a game easily played with mouse and keyboard.

M&B also have some controls to make it "easier/ simpler = less mouse movements" required. Still much better to simply get a controller.

M&B ties with WitP for the 1st place in total time spent in game. Mods (and modding) are just amazing
