Teleporting air unit replacements

Post by sanderz »

am playing DBB-C scenario 28 and as the japanese i get a problem occasionally when air units take auto replacements in that the replacements appear at a different airbase - very odd

i have been using the latest beta's but don't recall when this problem started

any ideas what going on here and if possible to fix?

thanks

Replacements depend on sufficient supply and sometimes the presence of an AIR HQ. If your squadron base does not have the right mix the aircraft can be generated elsewhere and eventually fly to the squadron location.

thanks - wasn't aware of that

when you say "eventually fly to the squadron location" do you mean they do this automatically if you just leave them alone, or that you manually have to transfer them to the correct base?

I believe they do it automatically in one of the later turn phases. But the range has to be Normal, not Extended. It's also possible for the player to have moved the parent piece even farther away from the reinforcement point in the days prior to the reinforcements arriving so that even drop tanks won't suffice. In that case I believe the reinforcements also just sit at the arrival base until the player acts.

But I'm a sub guy, not an airplane guy, so corrections welcome.

I've had these kinds of replacements show up in Tokyo for units in Burma.

Ever since I learned how to keep my units in supply (well, and turned replacements off such that I take replacements manually always and forever), this hasn't happened. I found it extremely odd when it did.

12 planes would show up in Tokyo with no pilots, but they'd then transfer a few times across the map...
