Return of Guards Rifle divisions in march 1942

Post by Dinglir »

In turn 40 (March 1942) of a grand Campaign, playing as the Soviets, I have just lost two Guards Rifle Divisions.

The Logistics Phase Report tells me, that they will be returning in two and four weeks respectively, and they show up on my reinforcements report as well.

The game manual states that Soviet units lost after Nov. 1941 will not be returned.

Are there special provisions for Guards units in relation to returning units, is there some other valid explanation I do not see, or is this a bug?

40. Soviet on-map units destroyed after 10/41 (as well as units other than Rifle, Motorized and Tank Divisions destroyed before 11/41) will return as nearly empty reinforcements in 2 to 4 turns. Such units will keep their name, TOE, corps affiliation (in case of divisions), and component division names (in case of corps). Their morale, experience, and win/loss counters will be reset to default values. This process will cost AP (though lack of points will not prevent units from returning): 15 for Corps, 5 for Divisions and Brigades being part of a Corps, 3 for other Brigades and 1 for other units. Forts, Partisans, Airborne, Mountain, Naval, NKVD Border Regiments, as well as Soviet Rumanian, Polish, and Czech units will not be eligible to return.

(In patch V1.08.08)

I confirmed in 1942 (just tested [:'(])

Corps returned as corps. (I was not sûre if i was goind to get a corps or 3 tank brigades).
Division return as division.
Brigade return as brigade.
Sapper regiment and tank battalion that were embedded inside corps return too. (This was a surprise).

I started the turn with 185 PP points due to the arrival of vostock front. I'am not sûre how many points this new front give me so it is hard to calculate how much it cost me to recreate the units. I had zero point left from previous turn.
I always use 100% of my PP.

Is this feature still in effect, so that returning units are free if the Soviet player does not have enough AP available?

Does this mean that you basically should check your reinforcement schedule for returning units and use up all your APs if you have more than 50APs worth of returning units?

Yes the feature is in effect. (AP price is consume when you loose the unit to make them return in 2 to 4 weeks).

Use all your AP each turn, so no issue. (And using all AP each turn is the way the AP are supposed to be spent as soviet).

125 for a new front (or a renaming into a front) and 60 per turn in 1942? = 185
Molotov : This we did not deserve.

Foch : This is not peace. This is a 20 year armistice.
