Can't Find a HQ when trying to change a LCUs HQ assignment

Post by gottagofish »

I am playing with the Sept. 17th Beta. When I tried to change a LCU unit's HQ assignment to the VII US Amphib Force, Amphib HQ (which is active in the game) it does not appear in the list of HQs. I checked and the other two Amphib HQs do appear. The VII US Amphib is assigned to the Southwest Pacific Command, while the other two are assigned to the Pacific Command, so I changed the VII Amphib to the Pacific Command to see if that may have an effect on this, but it changed nothing, the HQ still does not appear on the listing of HQs. I'm playing the Dec. 8th scenario, if that would have any impact on this issue. Does anyone else have this issue?

Amphibious FORCE HQs are not corps HQs -they are there to coordinate landings, not to control units once they are on land. Put them in the AGCs you get and you have a Command Ship and HQ that reduce landing losses and (I think) improve the rate of landing. The HQ has to be prepped for the site of the landing though.

I believe it has to remain aboard the AGC to give its benefit to the landing forces.

There are HQs with Amphibious in their name that are Corps HQs and not Amphibious Force HQs.
One that comes to mind readily is I Marine Amphibious Corps HQ that enters in the second half of '42.

Thanks BBfanboy and HansBolter for putting me straight. I assumed you needed to map the LCUs to the Amphib Command HQ to get those benefits. Merry Christmas.

There are multiple levels of bonuses from these... I did some extensive searching to figure it out a few months ago. They are:

1) An empty AGC in an amphib TF provides a bonus just to that TF (the multiple smaller AGCs that you receive are useful for this).
2) An AGC with an HQm embarked in it, in the same hex, provides a bonus to all TFs unloading in that hex.
3) Maximum bonus is achieved if the HQm is also 100% prepped for that hex.

As far as I know, the bonus is to unloading rates as well as decreased disruption and fewer casualties on the beach from accidents.
