Mothballing Soviet factories

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Mothballing Soviet factories

Post by colberki »

I am low on Heavy Industry having been overrun in Barbarossa. So to optimise my Soviet production, I want to temporarily shut down some less essential aircraft and vehicle factories. How can I do this?

I think you can only reduce global output of all factories on the production screen.
Alternatively you can "evacuate" factories forward, so the Germans will capture and destroy them. This is permanent mothballing, some peole used it to get rid of U-2VS, when groups liked to switch to them (no longer the case).

Do it in small steps over time. Economy is not something that can be ordered at will with immediate effect. But you will need those armaments.

If you want to just halt production temporaraly you can move the factory to a new site. Move the whole factory at once to slow down production for a while or move one unit to shut it down completely for a longer period.

Never reduce armaments or vehicle (truck) facs - you'll need them sooner or later.
One could move around ("evacuate" to new location) just a single point of U-2VS factories which then becomes higly damaged and will not produce for lots of turns although it doesn't save a lot of supply points. This moving around may also be done with other facs but be careful or you'll lose a lot of valuable fighting material.
