A tip for copy/pasting text from the database viewer

Post by ColonelMolerat »

One can't copy/paste text from the database viewer, which can be tricky when I'm having difficulty remembering the long names of systems I'm trying to research online.

I've just discovered though, that you can select the text you want to 'copy' and drag it into a text box in another application (such as a browser's search bar) and 'paste' it in that way.

I hope that helps someone!

Well Tarnation ... will not work with Notepad ... But I use Outlook as a holding area and spell checker for text and it works with that fine and Word/Excel too. Thanks. That will help in a whole host of stuff.

Some testing shows these results where this great tip works:

Browsers - Firefox search but strangely not IE or Edge (at least for me)!? Did not try Chrome.
Outlook email
Thunderbird email
Microsoft Word
Excel
Wordpad
OpenOffice
Notepad++
