This not possible then?

Does no one else ever bring back hqs from the eastern front? I think it would be very helpful to know the best leaders to return.

Hello

As far as I know this is (was) possible. I did it once... But only against the ai.

I think against the a humen player there is a rule which. When you pull a HQ the leader is unassigned a new leader is assigned. This was done because it could otherwise to cheat. You will find the unassigned leader in the pool.

Hello

See War in the West Living Manual: Chapter 23.2.2 EF BOX UNIT TRANSFER; p.157
Note if a HQ unit is moved from the East Front Box to the West Front, its leader will be automatically dismissed and a new leader appointed (11.4.3). The old leader will be available for reassignment.

Seems like this is very harsh on the axis as they have barely enough admin points as it is never mind having enough to appoint new leaders.

I'm curious to know what cheats were going to merit this rule change.

If you need admin points...go STATIC. You will end up with a lot of divisions you will be throwing away....like the ones you leave in all the major ports in France. Sometimes there are areas of the front you can go STATIC as well....such as in Italy if the allies don't push too hard...or even after a botched invasion and you have them bottled up.

As a bonus it also frees up trucks.

You will never have enough admin points for everything though...so you need to prioritize. Leaders is a rather low priority since even poor German leaders are better then most allied ones.
