aircraft carriers

Post by Icier »

I am currently play a campaign game & have found that a flaw from the earlier version seems to be continued in this
version. I am talking about the carriers, they are almost impossible to sink & that you have made them the supreme
weapon on land & sea, with a an airforce that suffers very little damage.
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.

Ice,

Games can vary a lot, I know, but it's not been my experience that carriers are always hard to sink. I've sunk them with three attacks (sub, CA, BC) and seen my opponents do the same--and a battleship can often knock them down by 5 points or more even in a "hasty attack." In most of the games I've played, they are also very vulnerable to land-based air units, unless the carrier is sitting in a port. Just my experience.

Can you give an example please ?

I'm asking because I haven't found this to be the case. German bombers and fighters and subs will usually make short work of carriers if they find them.

You are correct in that it depends on the quality of your opponents & I am currently playing 2 excellent naval
gamers. I suppose I was venting my frustration, in that my last attack was a combination of 2 pocket battleships
& 3 subs & the carrier still limped away & in the process leaving 1 of the battleships no better than a hull!
Anyway, I am know trying to devise a method of floating my panzer divisions, then we will see who is the "queen"
of the sea.
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.
