A tip to aspiring map makers

Post by StrategyGamer »

Are you tired of the constant checking of maps to see if a city is positioned "just right?"

Well, have no fear because Panzer Corps is here! Or a game with an editor that allows a map overlay...

If you own Panzer Corps, Advanced Tactics Gold, or really any game with an editor and an option for a map overlay, and you want to make a scenario on this game, then make the scenario on that game's editor, load up your overlay, and voila! You now have a hex grid over a map, with additional features...

NOTE: This doesn't work with games with their hexes having flat left and right sides, they have to have a flat top and bottom sides, with the left and right having a point or vertex.

Upsides:
Less checking, more doing
Able to fill in hexes in the overlay editor, to be able to track your progress (So you don't get lost)
Extremely accurate location, unit, and river positions
Coastline will be extremely accurate
Less hassling with hex maps
Extremely helpful with large maps without a lot of coastlines

Downsides:
You have to own the game in the first place in order to use the editor

I am currently using Panzer Corps to help me make a map, a large map, might I add, in Strategic Command WWII.
