Graphics/Counters

Post by Silvanski »

Are the graphics and counters exclusively PNG or will it still be possible to combine them with BMP.
In TOAWIII I use mainly BMP except for snow/frozen terrain where the transparency of the PNG graphics allow me to get a view of the terrain type.
Also, pardon me... square or rounded counters? [:D]

As a primitive modder of other games that use PNG's, I do most of the artwork on bitmaps and then convert the almost finished product to PNG. It's not that hard to do, and there are certain advantages to a PNG format, most notably that if you fiddle around with modes and color tables you can resize an image without having the pixels bleed into adjacent ones when they shrink (leaving an ugly light-colored halo around the main image which has to be trimmed away pixel by pixel).

Someday I'll grow up and do artwork directly in PNG, but I've spent many years figuring out ways to get Paint to do things it's not really supposed to be able to do, and I don't really want to go back to stumbling around in Photoshop which I use for layering, PNG conversion, and a few other things.
