Issue with combat with Decisive Campaigns Barbarossa

Post by wilhelmshave »

purchased and downloaded through Steam. It is Decisive Campaigns Barbarossa, the issue is combat, I have read the documentation and watched the video, the issue is that I can select a unit to be attacked, it works perfectly, however when I attempt to select an attacking unit(s) the program/system does not work, highlighting the unit(s) and using the space bar, or clicking on "all" system will not allow me to do this, or any other key stroke or any other procedure outlined in the documentation or in the video help presentation. I attempted to down load an install a patch from the Matrix website, I cannot install it because the program tells me that I have not installed the game. A series of bad words and thoughts follow. I would just consider this to be bad luck and a waste of money and time, if it were not for the fact that I also purchased and installed through Steam, Decisive Campaigns Case Blue, and it works perfectly.

So, gentlemen, and/or tech support, what am I to do?

They will have to answer your questions, but I believe if you purchased Steam version you can only update through Steam which should be automatic when they issue an update. I just purchased the game but through Matrix and was able to update to 1.04 through Matrix.

Yogi the Great, thank you for your reply, I have tried to update the game through the Steam portal and through the matrix website, when I tried through the matrix site, it told me that I could not do it because the game was not installed. I would just write this off as a bad experience but the Case Blue game works perfectly and is the same format. Any other ideas?

Thanks

You don't have to manually update the game. Steam automatically updates the game for you.

Hi wilhemshave,

Sounds like there's an issue with your game files.

Have you tried asking Steam to 'verify your cache' for that game?

In the Steam library, right click the game, select 'Properties' then the 'Local Files' tab and then the 'Verify' option.

It often irons out stuff like this.

Cheers,
Cameron

wilhelmshave have you resolved the problem?

Just curious, my game has been working ok but I did find it was a bit different from other games and took a while before getting use to it. First I after designating the target defender I would forget to hit either the icon to select units () or key a which I had to do before I could select attackers. Even longer for me to figure out that after selecting defender if I wanted to do something else couldn't just pick another hex had to press ESC to cancel the previous selection. Actually not just for that bu I find myself using esc a lot like after selecting a unit to move or clicking by mistake and then trying to select another unit the first unit would move toward that as I had to click ESC to cancel the first unit I selected. Still do that a lot.

Anyway not saying that's your problem but thought I would mention it as the game is different. I also knew from reading the forum for a number of years that Steam issues usually have to be fixed by Steam and if you buy from Matrix/Slitherine they have to fix. Some like Steam's auto updates. Good Luck hope it works out for you.
