ECW 1.03RC Patch Released

Post by Leibst »

Hi Everyone,
Here is the next update for English Civil War. Before we release it officially, we have made some test but we would need willing volunteers to give it a go as with 1.02 and confirm it works, and nothing is broken.

You can grab the file package from here:

https://1drv.ms/u/s!ArRpOZ0cOAg0fbUeHglVloqTHYY

PLEASE NOTE: this is not an official Matrix installer. It merely unpacks the files to your installed game directory, so please make sure that you have selected the correct directory when running this file.

1.03 can be installed over the game without patches or with 1.01 or 1.02 installed.
Previous games probably wont run properly

Summary of changes for 1.03RC
New Exe file fixing huge log issue
Some changes made in map (Surrey added)
Fixed Issue regarding Storm RGD
Bradford Region is unblocked when Fairfax event is fired
Changed several texts errors.
Fixed Issue duplicating ‘The Queen’ event in log
Fixed Issue regarding ‘no Nato symbol’ for Scottish cavalry
Fixed Issue regarding ‘Basing House appears as '0' in a message as a siege’
Fixed issue in Option ‘Commissioners to Scotland’
Fixing issue regarding ‘Argyll has no picture (in the separate window listing his properties)’
‘Recruit soldiers among prisoners doesn't Works’ is fixed
Farnham castle event now gives 10 Money and 5 WS
Assesment Tax option now gives 100 Money
Fixed Issue ‘Req Offices are destroyed after some battles.’
Southern Assoc can buy replacements now
Massey event twice in log, fixed
Wales Frontier has been redone
Pwilloughby appears as Essex and without Biography, fixed.
Wrong names in Ledger, fixed
Unit cost has been lowered.

Edit:
Updated the link, now Naseby is included and 1.03 is shown in version.

It's still showing as Version 1.02a - is this deliberate?

Also the map is wrong - Reading should be called Newbury (two important battles/sieges there) and the county of Newbury itself should be changed to Berkshire, although a few maps from that period still refer to it as 'North Wessex'.
(BTW I live in Reading and have studied the battles of Newbury)

As a side note, the Royal Castle of Corfe in Swanage should be added as there was a very important siege there too which lasted for ages - Corfe Castle was blown up by the Parliamentarian forces afterwards and still survives as one of the most beautiful and impressive ruins in the South of England

as then the update is in the correct place and just the number maybe wrong

Image

as it has updated if you have them in the correct / right place, maybe the official update may have the number correct, it loads too quick for me to even see the numbers tbh, just looked in the folder and found it was right

this is the only one in game i get

Image

so yes that's correct, but i'd guess also that a matrix official one will also update the number to the correct one, but for now it's the right patch

Yes, that's what I'm getting as well.
I guess it is just a minor printing error in the patch update.

These errors were pointed out some time ago ( on another post on this forum ).

Leibst - Are they still pending correction or have they been missed ???
As a side note, the Royal Castle of Corfe in Swanage should be added as there was a very important siege there too which lasted for ages - Corfe Castle was blown up by the Parliamentarian forces afterwards and still survives as one of the most beautiful and impressive ruins in the South of England.

The information here is correct. It seems odd if this Royal Castle has been left out of the game.

Leibst - Can it be added ?

I know two big battles were fought there, that is why the region has its name.
But Reading was also important so this was a design decission,

Adding more cities is more delicate as it could has impact in the scenario so it has to be studied carefully. I will take a look.

I will need more detail regarding the units involved during the two sieges. It seems one more of the dozens of sieges in minor castles that took part during the war. Maybe I'm wrong, give me more data please to analyze it properly.

OK fair enough.

First battle of Newbury (1643) which was actually a fairly minor battle - bloody and inconclusive but little impact on the war itself.
http://www.battlefieldsofbritain.co.uk/ ... _1643.html

Second battle of Newbury (1644) and the siege of Donnington Castle - Battle was at the end of a very long siege (went on for something like 18 months) - far more important than the first one.

Siege of Corfe Castle near Wareham in Dorset. Corfe was a very impressive castle, made into a Royal one by King John. Defended resolutely for months by Lady Mary Bankes and a handful of loyal soldiers. In the end it only fell due to treachery.

Thanks,
Regarding the castle imho there were several examples like this in the war. For design purposes I wont add all of them, it could be modded indeed.

I follow the logic re your use of Reading ( rather than Newbury ) with regard to the town ; however, the area really should be Berkshire...

Noted !

[ It was just a thought, as Corfe was a Royal Castle ( rather than any old castle / fortified manor house )... ]

Probably you are right [;)], it is a way of giving more relevance to Newbury just because the two battles fought there.
