Whoops I did it again.... (Game Over July 14, 1942)

Post by Mike McCreery »

I am playing an opponent named Decourcy2. Dont know much about him but a brief bit of research reveals he is intimately knowledgeable of mod's, knows the DaBabes guys by first names, and has a detailed technical knowledge of WWII equipment. He mentions he is a historian.

We are going to play a version of Scenario 1. It is my understanding he has nerfed the P40, and added 2 Japanese cruisers, 2 other capital ships (air craft carriers I think) and a 4th Yamato to the available hardware on the Japanese side.

Stacking limits on, PDU on with historical japanese research whatever that means ;]

I dont think we agreed on any HR's. Beta version of the scenario.

Most of his post history was wiped in the past.

Any dirt you have on the guy is appreciated ;]

He is obviously unhinged.

Playing Japan.
Scenario 1.
Four, count them, four Yamoto class BBs.[X(]

Attack his oil and fuel at every chance.[:)]

Good luck and have fun!

That seems like a unique...scenario. Any other major changes? I'll be watching this.

The obvious question is - "Will each shell do at least 0ne Million Dollars worth of damage?" If not, someone needs to look at this again and rethink it.

Here is the scenario as he described it, I am going to take him at his word :]

"I have been trying to find an opponent for my scen 1 mod.
It is very slight, just fixes a few aircraft mistakes in the game, N1K gets it's correct speed, J2M's altitude performance is lowered, P40N1 is brought back to reality, a couple Japanese planes have their 'a' and 'b' model armament backwards, that sort of thing.

Also, I added the 4th Yamato to the Japanese ship building list as it was already under construction at game start, also 2 more Tone's and 2 Taiho's. This just Japan options to develop real options, no more ship yards are added, so to build anything, you have to shut other things down. "

Yeah, Don & I had agreed to put the 4th Yamato in back in the CHS days because it was freaking being built when the war started, if someone wants it, they should be able to build the thing.

If you build it, Helldivers will come.

The Pearl Harbor attack was pretty heavy on the airfield.

All battleships took damage. I am starting to think it is hardcoded that 1 battleship has to sink at PH. The California goes down in the first day.

There was no PM air attack from the Japanese fleet.

I am wondering if that means that Mike is intending to stay for day 2.

Yamato wakes up in a cold sweat with visions of burning carriers dancing before his eyes...

During the night phase the japanese oilers were hit twice.

In the day phase before any air attacks the Carrier group was hit by 2-3 STF groups essentially killing 4 carriers and leaving the other 2 damaged.

We are gonna redo the turn without my attacks to prevent the fastest win in wargmr history.

The two Taihos are a big deal for Japan, but without the scenario 2 extra economy stuff, it's going to strain Japan's economy to build them. Any idea when they are launched in this mod?

Mike didnt indicate when they would arrive. Doesnt seem sporting for the Allied player to know anyway.

Here is a rerun of the sea battle

At night on the 8th, STF's sortie to attack the carrier fleet off the coast.

The New Orleans takes a torpedo on the outbound leg.

Man, I wouldn't re-do the turn, either as the IJ player or the Allied player.

Either way, I'd either forge ahead or, as the Japanese player, I'd concede the game and encourage my opponent to start over on December 7 (which is, what, one day back?).

A do-over is amorphous and unsatisfying...or should be. A concession is an acknowledgement of a decisive result with the nice option of stepping back one day.

Good job, Wargmr.

A light cruiser group is the first to sortie out to the area I believe the KB would launch the 2nd strike from.

It missed the KB but found the oilers.
