South part of Dnestr River says +1 movement, but is only +0 in practice

Post by OxfordGuy3 »

Hi - I just noticed that on hover, it says that the southern part of the Dnestr River is +1 movement, but when I actually try to move a unit across, it's only +0 - is the hover information wrong or is the actual movement penalty wrong?

Which way around is this meant to be?

Do you control the river crossing? It could be the case that it would be +1 to cross just being shown as the general info on what it costs to cross rivers, but once you control it that penalty no longer applies.

Oh really? I didn't realise control of the river hexes affected movement costs! I thought only bridges negated river movement penalties? But I just did some tests in a hotseat game and it looks like you're right, not only that but the control of a hex for negation of river crossing movement penalties happens immediately after you control the hex (same turn), so that follow-up units don't receive the penalty. I learn something new... I assume this represents capture of minor bridges etc. not represented by road/rail hexes on the map?
