Mine Warfare

Post by montesaurus »

Just curious, but I'm having trouble reloading my Mine Layers. What do I need to accomplish in the ports to get mines back on my mine laying ships? i.e. size of port needed, amount of supplies in the port, etc! Thanks.

Aside from the port infrastructure, you need mines in the pool. In my limited experience that is the most common bottleneck.

reloading my Mine Layers
might want to check your pools. usualy you can lay mines once or twice from your minelayers then the pools are empty.

there are limits on mine availibility as the game is not mines in the pacific.

the term is IDIOT.

not mines in the pacific.

It was.[:D]

Anyway the best way to keep a stock of mines for when needed is to set them to stockpile. Otherwise when your ML's refuel at a port like any vessel they will reload 'ammo' as well, if the port otherwise allows it (size and supply). This includes mines.

Yes. Definitely. Set all mines to stockpile. When you decide to arm a minelayer, turn stockpiling off for that type of mine, rearm it, then turn stockpiling back on. Only rearm a minelayer when you've decided to conduct a minelaying mission. Also, try to keep an ACM in your ports that have defensive mines.
I have been inputting my orders for the campaign game first turn since July 4, 2009. I'm getting close. In another month or two, I might be able to run the turn!

In my current game early 44, BWTS, CW minelayer arrives in 2 days. Uses VH mk2 mine. problem is this mine is halted production on 12/42. Is this an error?

You are playing a mod, correct? Is this ship in the regular game, does it arrive around the same time, and does it use the same type of mine? If not, then the developer of the mod needs to be notified of this but if he is your opponent, I might consider waiting. One workaround for the developers of mods is to give the minelayers an upgrade changing the types of mines used to a current model.

Edit: I did not see that you posted this in the AAR.

I wonder if designers did this on purpose.

What it looks like is that the build rate changes but the mines have the same statistics. What I think needs to be done is to have the ships receive a "0" day upgrade to use the new model. Of course, using up the older models first.

WTF! My previous post did not show up. I noted that in my scenario 1, Ver. 1126a, CMs Ariadne, Manxman and Apollo all come with British Mk XVII mines. Your scenario must have changed that.

That is because you posted it in the AAR . . .
