Security check failed

I tried to dust off CoH today. I hadn't played in months (maybe a year?). When I try to launch the game, I get this error:

Security check failed. Please contact Matrix Games support for further information.


Note: I may have updated my system from Windows 8.1 to 10 in the intervening time. I don't know for sure.

windows 10 doesn't support fully out of the box older games, so you need to do some house work to re get them back working

first re load the pre requisites that come with the game, these can be found in the install folder (redist)






then some extra gaming files need loading, as per screenshots shows, as direct play and media player doesn't install by default on windows 10

if you don't wish to do all this, simple way is uninstall the game, make sure the folder is clean and then reinstall and patch to latest level, then also dont forget to add in any file it asks, eg the pre requisites, then it should work as designed...

I having the same error message after installing the game after new purchase. I have a Windows 7 PC. Thanks for any sugesstions.

check firewall and anti virus logs and see which one has stopped anything game related from working, installing as admin and patching and running as admin and with a game friendly AV and firewall works, others like avast or other rubbish program don't, game friendly means, you don't have the add the file / game folder etc to get it to work or install correctly, also you need to have full administrator permissions to install and run, same as 99% of all games

It is installed and working. Got the steam key and just installed it through the Steam library tab. Thanks again
