Game stopping bug during Setup

Post by AdmiralFatcat »

I know this probably should be in Tech Support but our previous post was never answered and we can't continue until it is addressed.

I'm playing a game of GW with Timian and we keep getting completely stopped after German setup. We can click OK for Initiative and Weather. The next screen says: Sep/Oct 1939 Axis#1 DOW: US Entry

Nothing happens at that point. The Next Phase is gray instead of green and no other screen opens. We have tried everything we know to get by it but no joy. We have done the complete setup twice. This bug has us complete stopped before we even get to play the first turn. Help!

The enemy invariably attacks on one of two occasions: 1. When you're ready for them. 2. When you're not ready for them.

Is sounds like you might have a "hidden" form. Did you see a roll for US entry and choose a chit?

If not, then you need to bring the US entry roll form to front and process that. Try alt-tab and navigate back to the game.

By the way, the game file you uploaded in the tech section is all hosed up. It's like you encrypted the contents of the .GAM file.

Ok. I was able to get around the bug. When I got to the US entry and where the phase button was grayed out I saved and closed the game. In my case I saved to a different name (e.g., test.GAM) but I don't think that matters. I then reopened the game file and it asked me to switch to "Ken" (I believe). I clicked on that, drew 2-chits and then the game asked me to switch back to the other of you. I did that and the game proceeded to the Polish setup.

I'll put this on my list to investigate, but not a high priority since you have a work around.

Usually the troubles reported with Head-to-head play are when the program fails to tell the players to switch sides. Then the wrong side is in control of the computer - and the program is waiting for the other side to make a decision. In this case it seems it was for drawing US Entry markers.
