Hi Philippe,

I wrote it and it makes sense to me. A few of the normal english 'connection' words have been omitted for brevity as small is tight, eg. 'Thin, hard-bitten' would normally be 'He was a thin man with a hard bitten expression'.

Which bit are you having trouble with?

"Resentful that he didn't get a Panzergruppe in Russia" doesn't have any punctuation after it and seems to break off in mid-sentence. It's also confusing because Bock has the 2nd and 3rd Panzergruppe reporting to him.

Does that mean he wanted a tactical command but had to content himself with being in charge of an Army Group?

Otherwise it's very nice.

I was trying to keep the amount of text to a manageable amount but my English teacher, like yourself, wouldn't have been impressed.

Bock actively campaigned to be given a Panzergruppe in the eastern campaign as these were seen as the most exciting, and influential, commands at the time. Subsequent to the decision not to give him one he was made commander of AGC which, as you've pointed out, encompassed two subordinate Panzergruppes.

Whether his resentment at not being considered for a PG played a role in his conflict with Guderian is an open question. The two of them had very different views as to how fast moving mobile armoured forces should be utilised.
