Converting scenarios

Is there a chance, that the old TOAW 3 scenarios are converted the new standard?
A lot of old ones are in the scenario bank, unfortunately.

All of those that we time to do, we did, and are included in the release. Please understand that 'conversion' for TOAW IV meant that the scenario had to be played at least once all the way thru in order to see that it would meet minimal requirements. So obviously there was not time to grab all scenarios from all archives. Active Scenario Designers also participated in fully updating their scenarios to include aspects of TOAW IV that applied to them.

You can take any older scenario and load it in the TOAW IV Editor and save it to a location the Documents/My Games/TOAW IV/Scenarios folder and that way do the same yourself [play it thru to see if it seems to work ok [most likely it will].

I have downloaded a newer version of the Eastern Front 1941 - 1945 scenario, opened the editor, and loaded the scenario file - however i get an error message saying i have the wrong equipment file loaded. The download has a separate folder with a .eqp file in it - i'm not sure if that is loading and the editor doesn't like it, or if its just not loading (i can't see that any of the other scenarios have .eqp files.

How best to proceed to get this scenario saved as a TOAW4 version?

Many thanks

You load it into the editor (the old TOAW III scenario), then save it under the TOAW IV scenario folder. Ignore the .eqp mismatch message. It should work fine. What particular scenario ya's want to convert (just curious)?

thanks - so i can totally ignore the equipment file - does TOAW 4 have a standard .eqp file? And would that mess up the scenario as originally designed as it specifically mentions major changes to the .eqp file (Sorry, but i know nothing about how the scenarios get put together or work)

The scenario is "Eastern Front 1941- 1945 v4.0 (the game came with v3.6)

It has a standard .eqp file. But again; it's a piece of cake to mod/implement a new one.

To be totally safe, you should put the custom equipment file onto the overridegraphics directory in a subdirectory that has the same name as the scenario.

Then open the file with the scenario editor and save it. You will still probably get the warning, but you can ignore it.

Thanks Ralph

I left the scenario file in the "WW II - East Front" directory (hope that was OK as i see others had scenario files in "custom graphics" as well), opened editor, opened scenario, and it loaded up with no errors [:)] Then did a "save as" and overwrote the file, though i didn't realise when i closed the editor it would ask to save again, so i overwrote again - did i need to do the first "save as"?

cheers

Cool. The TOAW Editor doesn't keep a 'dirty flag' so it always prompts you to save.
