How can I tell when a unit is frozen?

Post by jzardos »

There are some units that can't move. How can I tell why and when they will be able to move. What is obvious in the picture that I'm missing?

Thanks

The orange bar around the numbers. I think orange is reorganizing and red is, well I forget off hand what red is.

Ok, how can I tell the length of the re-org? Red is routed.

I think this might be orange because of a special scenario rule? Would be nice to see how long the unit will be unavailable.

From the manual (I searched the word "orange")

7.13. Unit Icon Display
(Advanced Rules)

...

Yellow: The units are in Garrison mode,
which is the result of a special Scenario rule.
Orange: The unit or its parent Formation is
reorganizing. Otherwise, they are in Reserve
as a result of a special Scenario rule.
Red: The unit is Routed.

Also, if we knew the scenario, someon might be able to look at the briefing and see if any events are mentioned.

I will look Directive 21. IMO, the UI should be showing how long a unit is in reorg or frozen from the special scenario rules.

Look at the formation report for that unit and on that dialog
there should be some verbage about it, the formation, being
in reserve until turn X and I remember seeing it one time
so that's what I'm guessing it is. Try that.

thewood1: Thanks for demonstrating how to use the 'search' function while in the manual to discover answers to these basic questions.

That being said, there is value in perusing all of these reasonably-worded questions in order to help make sense of a complex game. Personally having no experience with this series, I bought this one knowing it was going to be a bit of an elephant to eat, piece by piece!

It sure seems like it needs to be demonstrated sometimes.
