Units can't be assigned to a different HQ?

Post by nnv12 »

Hello! Do I understand correctly that units can't be transfered from one HQ to another HQ? While this is not a problem for scenarios which last some weeks it seems to be a problem for scenarios lasting months or even years. At least is it possible to resubordinate HQs? For example if a Corps HQ is subordinated to "1 Army" HQ is it possible to assign it under "2 Army" HQ?

No they can't be reassigned, unfortunately.
A major item in my wishlist for TOAW5?

For long scenarios, such historical reassignments are handled by the scenario designer. A unit under 1.Army will be withdrawn and the same unit will reappear as reinforcement under 2.Army.

Ok, too bad. For long periods historical reassignments may not work because the situation may develop very unhistorically. It seems that for large long scenarios where you may want to move units around the map the best solution would be very flat command structure? One central HQ and most or all other HQ's directly under it?

The chain of command system in TOAW is flat. You can move units freely around the map, with your only consideration being the level of Cooperation your formations have.

If your units have "Free support" or "Force support" they will suffer no penalties, whether they fight in Finland or Egypt. If they have "Internal support", they will suffer penalties in combat.
