Suggestion for combat planner - repaint unit icons on map

Post by Shadrach »

To the devs: Would it be possible to repaint the unit icons on the map when using the combat planner?

If the units could be repainted with the arrowhead overlay when selected for the attack it would be much easier to know which units are selected. Also bring the last selected unit in the planner to the top if in a stack. This would make it much less of a chore assigning bombard missions and less need to individually override because you selected the wrong unit.

Unless the player is an expert on the OOB and which artillery units are which it's really hard to tell, even if you can hover and see the unit name, it's not always obvious.

For adjacent hex units, it's not such an issue, as you usually know where they are because the layout -but for nearby support units it's really hard to know which one you've selected before pressing OK. Even then not always certain because it could be for another attack in the same general direction.
