Sicily 43 Transportation Unit?

Post by marion61 »

I'm not real sure what to do with this unit. It's called the 7th Army Trans. Do I just keep it in place so that it's trucks are used for asset sharing, or do I move it to where I want to advance and then set it still? Or does it enhance the supply chain somehow? It has a high recon value, but there are no command units in it, and from this pic it doesn't seem to help with supply around itself. Any clarification on how to utilize this unit would be appreciated. I've checked the scenario doc file, and the manual and cannot find any clarification on this unit type or what it's purpose is.

I don't see any reason for it offhand, so if the briefing or document doesn't mention it, I would go with what you said above. I notice the 8th Army also has one.

I think it gives a supply boost where it is placed for a set distance. I think the screen shot above shows that. The supply is less on both sides of the unit so depending on which way the supply is flowing it appears to give a boost.

The purpose is like... well, a boost to Transport Asset Sharing, as explained in Tutorial '42.

I'll move it closer to the front and see what happens with the supply. My front line on the American side is down to the single digits, and Palermo (closest supply point) is still 20 or so hexes away. I hope it will give me a supply boost, as I've had to suspend most combat ops till I build up supply in those units again. Thanks for the replies, Gen. Patton appreciates them.[8D]
