Plane art not showing up

I just reinstalled Admirals Edition and all the patches up through the Beta v1.01.26a.
When I view a squadron's Plane Details, the illustrations aren't there. When air battles happen, the planes aren't there - just empty sky.
How do I fix this, please?

Also, can anyone recommend a good mod for map art, please?

Are you using the -dd_sw switch on your shortcut to run WitPAE?

Also, Chemkid is the gold standard in WitPAE cartography - I'd start with Yamato Damashii.
