Initial tank tech thoughts

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

Initial tank tech thoughts

Post by KorutZelva »

I feel like the soviet should have the tank edge in 1939.

I'd put them with tech level 1 but without any chit invested.

I'd do the opposite for Germany, take away their tank tech but give them a chit invested in it.

France Char B-bis was no world beater, the fact that they have heavy tank before everybody kind of reflects any edge in armament and armor french tank had over their german counterpart. Take away their tank tech.

I'd take away UK tank tech chit investment too so that NA theater be fought on even terms.

This way it gives the soviet at least one unit class to be feared by the german at Barbarossa's start and also slows down the tank level max that seem to happen by 1943. Shouldn't affect Barbarossa initial year because the Soviet don't have a tank base to make a big impact but it would help the Russian to be in a situation where they can do limited counterattacks by 1942.

I'm not so sure. The Soviet's had great tanks. Bigger guns. Better armor. But the game isn't comparing just tanks; it's comparing units. You have to consider training, tactics, leadership, and, of course, radios, or in the Russian case lack thereof! The bottom line is that the Russians lost 7 tanks during 1941 for every one tank the Germans lost. How do you simulate such a reality in a game the scale of SCE?

That's what the tank doctrine and command tech are for. [;)]

German tanks would have higher xp from poland and france and the USSR tanks would still face better inf and air so its not like it would be a cake walk, quite the opposite. Just give them a slight edge in tanks tech they deserve so they have something to build on to!
