I purchased the original game, then the III version. The first one way back in the dark ages I could never get to work. The III version I kept getting severely pis*** off, because I would move a unit and then my turn would be over - which was quite the despicable turn of events. However, I scummed to purchasing this version and I am most pleasantly pleased. It all seems to be making a bit more sense to me. I played about 50 turns in Gotteramdang - or some similar name - and finally began seeing a bit of light.

Oberst Klink, Furgerson, and Warspite1 - I have to thank you for guiding my way through the never ending darkness of this particular game. I am now on turn 3 of Directive 21, and it is simply brilliant. GG's War in the East grabbed my attention many years ago, but it never lived up to expectations, I don't if anyone ever played D21 to the bitter end, but I will try. Might have to restart a time or two, but so far this certainly shows the vastness of the never ending USSR, and I will endeavor to complete D-21.

To all of you who developed the game engine and the scenarios, I give you a very hearty "Thank You".

Gotterdammerung -or Godverdommerung- as we would say in Flanders[:D]

Even as a seasoned player. I find the new way the time spent -or wasted- per combat is portrayed much clearer than before

Directive 21 has probably been completed to the end in the TOAW III version but not the TOAW IV version. We have made tons of changes to it for TOAW IV and the game engine and the AI are vastly improved since TOAW III. It does take a while to play to the end. I am testing to make sure I do not have any issues with balance and am up to April 1942. If you have started the version that came with the latest patch you should be ok. You should also follow the AAR for this on the AAR thread, there are a few going on right now. Larry especially does a great job of explaining the scenario as he progresses through.
