Carry out Operation Husky

There are several Sicily invasion scenarios in TOAW4. I picked this scenario because I liked the map & time scale, length, and because he used HQ units with leaders at the division scale on up.

Carry out Operation Husky

Lots of debate between US and British command on the need for operations in Italy.

Carry out Operation Husky

The Plan: Leaders knew where and when but in theory the troops did not.

Carry out Operation Husky

Air units – Initial Force.

Under Inventory and Replacements you can see the number of air units assigned (red arrow).

Not all units are available at start of scenario.

Oh I've got to play me this scenario - Warspite, Penelope, Orion ohhh...[:)]

But..... who's the spell-checker here? HMS Carlise - presumably that is Carlisle. And yes, we had an ancient D-Class cruiser modernised courtesy of our US cousins, but she wasn't re-named after the detective! HMS Colombo please.
Now Maitland, now's your time!

Maybe you could suggest the developers add a spell checker to the scenario editor. [;)]

Loading up.

Note: I tried to use photos that are associated with operation Husky. Probably about 95% successful.

Rough seas had the fleet commanders uncertain whether to proceed.

AM – July10, 1943 (T2) – Round 2

Landings have been completed.

Quick look at losses.

The majority of the infantry losses come from attacks on Gela and Siracusa. (red arrows)

AM – July10, 1943 (T2) – Round 2

Airborne – scattered all over.

Note: Unfortunately the scenario really doesn’t account for the scattered drops.
I should have spread the drops out all over.
