Carriers and the Shift Key

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

Carriers and the Shift Key

Post by ikrananka »

It states in the game manual (and in the Hot Keys listing in-game) that pressing the Shift key allows you to "see how far a Carrier that hasn't yet moved can attack/reconnoiter".

However, when I select a Carrier that hasn't yet moved, pressing the Shift key appears to do nothing. What am I doing wrong?

Hi

When you press shift, hold down the left mouse button and move the cursor around to target hexes.

This won't work if the carrier is in rough seas or rain.

This is to use the aircrafr in a reconnaissance roll to a hex.

Bill,

I have found that holding down Shift seems to have no effect. If I simply select a CV and then move my mouse over enemy terrain then the red reconnaissance marker line and target appears and if I left click on one of the valid enemy hexes it successfully completes reconnaissance. So, I'm still at a loss as to exactly what using the Shift key does as I can complete reconnaissance without it.

It's when you want to fly recon to a sea hex and not move the CV to the sea hex.

Oh and it may be <cntrl> <shift>. I forget unless I'm actually doing it.

You will see the targetting circle for hexes within the range of your planes. Push the mouse out of that range and it goes back to naval move function.

Got it - I see the difference now.
