Difference Between This and the Other Titles

Post by feldwebel87 »

I plan on picking this up as soon as it releases; but, out of curiosity, what is the difference between this and Strategic Command WWII? The other title looks a bit more recent, but the map size looks smaller?

The two titles are from different generations.

SC WW II is the current generation and very mature. The Global Conflict game is closely related and very mature as well, but about one-and-a-half generations older.

The Global Conflict game has a lot to recommend it, though many find the naval model a bit too stretched when it comes to the war in the Pacific.

But the game is fascinating in spite of this because it allows you to play the whole war on a truly strategic scale.

I am interested in the large scale and the overall look of this game. I think I will play this over the modern equivalent.

Thanks Philippeatbay

As mentioned SCC Global Conflict is a re-release of the 2011 (approx) title. It was originally published by Battlefront.
It was if you like part of the '2nd generation' of Strategic Command games (like Strategic Command Classic WW1) whilst 'Strategic Command WWII : War in Europe' is the 3rd generation version.

As Philiipe' says, the global theatre is fascinating!

Does anyone know if his other titles such as "Patton Drives East" or his Pacific War game will be released on Matrix?

Thank you Philippeatbay and Benedict151 for your clarification on the different versions. I just started looking for a decent strategic WWII game, and all three offerings (Classic, Global, and WWII: Europe) all have a certain appeal. I'm not familiar with SCC in any version, so it all is/was a bit confusing to me. I've watched a few play throughs and first impression videos. I think I'm leaning towards the third generation game: WWII: War in Europe. I like hexes (I'm really old school: The Rise and Decline of, the boxed version with cardboard unit counters). Also, the interface seemed clearer to me.
I once heard there was a garage, which some said was air tight.
