BP sending to fallen Capitals

Post by TeaLeaf »

Now Chunking has fallen, Allies are no longer able to send their 2 BPs to China (kunming could receive 2).

I still think that the program cannot handle BP lending once the capital of the receiver has fallen (see also this thread). Idea: allow the player also to select where a BP need to be sent, the same way we can select the source BP.

Right now, I can select the source BP of, for example the CW (need to be set to 'Calcutta' after every save and restore of the game), but the program chooses the destination. Now after Chunking has fallen, no destination is choosen.

For now I guess I'll need to refer to the Layman's guide to manually modify the Chinese build points by +2 (from 4 to 6). IIRC, I saw Ronnie do that a while back.

Can't you change the destination by switching to the production screen for China?

My first thought (hope) exactly, but no.

The production planning around the build points traded to China behaves very erratic now that Chunking has fallen.

I tried to send the CW BP to Kunming (remember to change source London to Calcutta first), but I gave up.
In trying to change destination (to Kunming) in the Chinese production screen, I encountered the following errors:

1. I was able (in one of many tries, but only once) to change the destination to Kunming, but hitting the recompute button changed destination Kunming into Greenland [0,0], of all places [&:].
2. The traded Build Point just vanishes from the Chinese list (but not from the list in the CW screen).
3. Hitting the 'Save', 'Production', 'Where to' buttons with the BP selected in the Chinese production screen just does nothing.

Long story short: I couldn't do it and I daresay it is impossible.

Have you played through to the builds phase to see if the points are being credited? I seem to remember something similar happening to me after Moscow fell but the build points were still usable even though they were labeled as going to Moscow. After that, I just stopped trying to fix it.

Yes, I am now playing Naval Moves of the allies in the next turn, so played through the build phase.
No build points arrived for China. The program keeps telling me they have to go to Chungking and thus, are lost.

So, I did what Ronnie taught us: I produced something with China, saved and exit. Then I added 2 BP for China by modifying the save file.

At this moment (Naval Moves), the BP are still listed in the CW/USA production screens, but vanished in the Chinese screen. Maybe when China is doing its Land Moves it's a different story, we'll see...

Thank you for the saved game.[&o] I have wanted to work on this but the only saves I had were for NetPlay games, which are 50 times more difficult to debug that Solitaire.

Question: If a Major power like France is lending BP to the CW it works ok up until Paris is captured then it doesnt. Even though the factories are not isolated and producing BP. It is sort of the reverse of the problem described here where the BP's are going the other direction.

Is this suppose to happen the turn a countries capital is taken?

No. That's a bug.
