Scrolling

Post by HobbesACW »

Hi folks, I last played TOAW in 2001 and it's wonderful to see this new version of the game. But I'm wondering why scrolling is so awful? I can push the mouse to the left and right of the screen and scrolling is fine - but if I want to scroll up or down I have to hit a few pixels in a certain place. I can't just move the mouse to the top or bottom of the screen. If I do that nothing happens. It seems a real pain. Is there any way to sort this?
Nobody else has a problem with this?

Cheers,
Chris

I also had an issue with scrolling and left/right mouse clicks. The patch/update resolved that. Have you updated your game to the latest version?

I have the latest version. If I put the mouse to the left or right of the screen it scrolls. But to scroll up or down it doesn't.
I've always thought scrolling in games to be important. Let players decide the delay and scroll speed. But having a sweet spot that you
have to hit is the worst.

It was the same with earlier versions. You can also use the keyboard arrows, drag&drop the map with left click or just by left clicking the map.

If the new UI isn't important to you, you can use the original UI [click on those buttons at the upper left to find it] where scrolling is easier.

There's also a jump map if your game map is big enough. Hot key J. Many ways to move around. And as sPzAbt653 said, you can always use the old UI.
