Flamethrower

Post by jcrohio »

Peter. Sorry about starting another thread but I wanted to get your attention. Playing this morning
and a couple of turns into the game, I got a crash using a flamethrower. Had already used it once with
no problems. This is what happened yesterday. First time OK. Second time crash.

As per my follow post to you yesterday in the previous thread - I thought everything was fine after I
rebooted my machine. Shot the flamethrower a couple of times yesterday in the scenario and even shot it
twice in one scenario to make sure.

Running version 1.0.96 of the game. Windows 10, Intel i7-7700K CPU, 16 gig memory, NVidia GeForce GTX 1070

Any ideas?

Peter. Here is a saved game right before a crash. Saved the game. Crash. Reload and everything OK.

Hope this helps.

The flamethrower is intended for a half squad, if it is used by a squad it works most of the time except when the "cowering in effect" is triggered, it blocks the game because a unit can not fire at the same time she uses the flamethrower.

Hi Jack,

I'm not sure what the problem is, I selected the flame thrower support weapon in the hex [3,25] and I can fire into to the hex [5,25] just fine. Is that how you fired ?

I am not sure either. As I played through the game it crashed once and was fine three times.

I just went back to the save game and reloaded it three times and it worked fine each time.

Do you want Save Games if possible? If this is something that is not happening to anyone else
then you have to figure it is just something in my computer setup and I am just going to have
to save each time I use a flamethrower. It is not a big deal. I just have to remember to do it!!

Rico I always fire a flamethrower by its self. I thought you could not combine the inherent firepower
of its squad and really have never tried. Not sure what Cowering would have to do with it. Thanks
for responding though.

Thanks Hailstone and Peter.

Hey Peter. Small thing but is there a reason the Tired Counter does not display like the Broken and Pinned Counters do?

Like I said nothing major but I like the displays on the map as they rally help me more than looking down in the information
panel.

The counter can only show so much as the space is limited. The unit control panel provides a complete picture (all attributes) of a unit on a map.

I have been using flamethrowers intensively in "The last bid" (the Germans have 5 or 6, so I must have fires them 30 to 40 times in 7 turns) and I had no crash issues. I used them with squads and HS, after any possible movement mode (assault move/move/double time) or remaining stationary, and nothing happened.
Chasing Germans in the moonlight is no mean sport

I can only state what has happened to me. Yesterday I played the same scenario but as the Russians. The German AI
extensively used the flamethrower with no crashes. So why I get intermittent crashes is beyond me but it does happen.

Hi Jack,

I would recommend re-installing the game, apply the latest official UPDATE4 and then you can apply the latest ALPHA patch that I'm currently working on. I just went through my code and did some testing and I didn't find any issues.

Thanks

I've Had ToTH current with all updates including the alpha patch and it happened to me. The difference now and before the updates is that it's became a rare occurrence for me. In the past, it was always repeatable but its good now. I accept the occasional/rare glitch in programs so no problem for me.[;)]
