Couple of possible air bugs

Post by Mike_B20 »

Not sure if these are bugs but they seem strange.

Sometimes in a fighter combat the message,
"# Daitai breaks off attack" or similar is displayed, yet no Jap aircraft break off contact.
This is me, as allies versus the ai, so maybe it's a game mechanism to make the ai a bit tougher.

Another annoying message is,
"So and so bounces so and so"
Often the 'bouncing' aircraft is reported afterwards as climbing towards contact, usually several such messages.
I'd have thought a 'bouncing' aircaft, climbing to make contact to be in fact the 'bounced' aircraft and to be at a serious disadvantage.

This is Nikademus's favourite message.:p

The message indicates that the group of aircraft reporting it have failed a morale check and are aborting. It doesn't matter whether the it is a players a/c or the AIs, although the AI is more likely to push its squadrons to the point where their morale is very low (but still keep launching strikes).

The message will occur for both the attackers and defenders fighters but, if attacking bombers are present, the attacking fighters will not actually break off despite the stated message.

Don't know if it's a bug or intentional (to protect the bombers).

I assume you are talking about the same squadron being reported as climbing, diving, bouncing, etc all in the one combat?

The messages you see are for individual a/c or groups of aircraft for that squadron. Each can be in a different situation to the next. Some will already be at intercept altitude while others are climbing. In combat, some will be the bouncee, some will be the bouncer.
