Post by MakeeLearn »

How do I get the feathered transparency Aptop_alpha(Left) instead of the non-feathered(Right)?

Drawing by hand, I am afraid. The level of brightness is the alphachannel of the opaque blit.
I do not know any tool that can generate such info from a bitmap.

Planetop Alpha Image Tutorial

The trick is in the image resize which creates the feathered edges. [;)]

Best of luck. [:)]

I studied this a few years ago under Mifune. At first I could not make an alpha at all.
There IS a way to make one in an external art program (we use Irfan View) - but while its
programmer was able to make them - I never mastered the technique. What Richard recommends
did work for me - once I got the skill. Blow up the image and work with individual pixels.
Ultimately you can do anything if you do that.
