Incorrect LOC?

Post by dapedius »

Just purchased this game and am trying the 'The Reluctant Offensive' scenario. Clicking on the HQ hierarchy and selecting the main HQ I see from this it has command to 5 others HQ's. Selecting the main HQ and pressing hotkey H I can see that the this is the case but that it also seems to command one unit A/3rd Bn Goldstrm Guards for some reason so I assume this is a bug or I am missing something here as I am a newbie (there are actually 6 LOC coming from main HQ)

Took some screenshots but 200K is the file attach limit...

Looking forward to this scenario - just similar scenario on TOAW IV video I was just watching which actually made me interested in the desert war.

Not sure I follow. But the HQ range is the distance (in movement points) that one HQ can control other units / HQs. It is not the number of units/HQs that a HQ can control.
If I understand you. [;)]

Hmmm seems I am not explaining well, would be easier with screenshots...[:)]

Basically it seems the A/3rd Bn Goldstrm Guards controlling HQ is actually the top HQ in the HQ hierarchy (HQ WDF) which does not seem right as in the diagram (HQ hierarchy) HQ WDF only controls 5 other HQ's - not a lowly motorised company (maybe O'Connor's son is serving in that unit who knows so they get special privileges [:D])

So in summary I believe A/3rd Bn Goldstrm Guards controlling HQ should be HQ Coast not HQ WDF.

Hope this makes more sense??

I can confirm, the Coldstream guard unit (in the Operation E mission) has a command line going all the way back to the on-map boss (WDF HQ -- not even to the forward WDF, but the one back near Mersa Matruh), yet is listed as under the command for the Coastal Brigade. I haven't started the mission to see where it actually draws supply from yet, due to a different bug during setup, which I'll discuss elsewhere.

Will fix in patch, thanks!

Thanks! -- I did confirm through playing later that it draws supply from the Mersah Matrah WDF corps HQ (which fortunately pushes supply out far enough to reach the western half of the red-group area, so for testing purposes I put the Coldstream over helping with Sofafi. It's in extended supply there, until the bug is fixed. But I'll be restarting the mission anyway.)
