A different approach to multilingual support

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

A different approach to multilingual support

Post by igym »

Hi all,

I have recently accepted a PBEM challenge vs. a German speaking opponent. I thought that every player would be able to see its own language, but I found out to my dismay that this was not the case.
You have to adapt to the language of the initiator. However, this should not be necessary if for example, you set the locale language so that everyone could be able to play in its own language. This could have the advantage of reducing the language segmentation we currently have, and therefore could make PBEM a more global experience. I would like to see your views about this, and in particular those from the persons in charge of the evolutions of the game.

PS: I am surviving because I have played several times and I know the contents of the options already, but it would otherwise be impossible to achieve anything.

Hi Igym,

Thank you for your feedback and this is something we are currently developing for future releases as we agree, the current situation, while workable, is less than ideal.

A suggestion for a temporary solution:
Include the DE # in the pop-up screen text. That way, at the very least, the player can look it up in the manual.
