Infrequent Update on rematch Tourney Game Between nnason (Allies) and YohanTM2 (Axis)

1. 1939 saw a typical battle for Poland in which Poland went down in two turns

2. 1940 saw a typical battle for France with :
a. Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxemburg falling in one turn.
b. France falling by July 14th. As a note. Allies left a BB hanging along the Norwegian coast (forgot to move) and lost it.
c. In October Axis started to reduce Malta with air and Italian BBs. A greatly reinforced British fleet successfully ambushed Italian fleet. (See losses below.)
d. As a result, the Axis deduced Brits were weak in North Sea. And Brits got their fleet ambushed. (See losses) Moral of the story strong one place weak another. Weak needs to play safe.
e. Allies thinking Malta was safe with ports at +1 AA and CVs set to CAP sent three carriers to Malta. Axis had an Experience 3 HQs and two Marine Bombers and sunk two CVs. (See losses.) Brits lost more than Axis but Axis can little afford similar losses.
f. November saw Yugo turn Axis thus validating massive 900 point diplomacy investments by the Axis. Italy started attack on Greece.
g. Brits unsuccessfully did try for Narvik. Germans have been chasing Brit Rangers NE since. (Still alive and evading in July 41. Finally managed to get to port for supply.)

3. 1941 Winter/Spring saw:
a. Malta fell in April. If it hadn’t been for the 2 lost CVs, the Allies would have called battle for Med a clear win for the Allies. Still with only 4 ships in Med and no BBs the Med, even with loss of Malta, is a British lake. Update July 41 Italy is down to two ships, Axis ships sub to Med. Two Axis Naval bomber keep Brits on their toes.
b. So far Egypt has been quiet the entire 40/41. Brits are dug in at El Alamane. Italy and brits probed but nothing more. Update Mid-July 41 Axis starts move in Egypt. Both sides take damage. Main Brit line is weakening.
c. Greece was reinforced by the British and is still barely alive early July. Germans have 3 Italian, 2 Armored, and 1 Mech. unit still tied down as of July. Did Yohan make same mistake Hitler did by trying down troops in the Balkans/Greece that are needed in Russia? Update Greece falls mid-July. Brits lost an Army but retain Crete
d. Russia went to 99% mobilization in June surprising both players. To preempt a Russian war declaration. The Axis launched Barbarossa in July xx. They killed a typical massive amount of border troops
e. Spain remains at 63%. Sweden move towards Axis 10% and Turkey toward Allies 10%.
f. Iraq falls in Mid-July after Brits ship in one unit and send recon unit east also. Persia two turns later in August. These territories go along way with MPPs for the Allies.
g. Russia defended mostly with +1 Armies in strategic spots. This left many towns lightly or undefended. After killing the Armies, Axis took advantage. Generally they are equal the actual battle in northern area. A little behind west of Smolensk. And slightly ahead of where the Germans were south of the Pipet Marshes.

4. Investments:
a. Brits 1425 research 200 diplomacy (Turkey 11%)
b. USA 2875 research
c. USSR 650 research Note USSR got first +1 Inf in 1941 and second on July 29, 1941
d. Germany 2450 research and 650 diplomacy (Got Yugo in early 1940 and a couple of hits on Spain (68%) and 1 on Sweden (24%.)
e. Italy 1100 Research and 300 diplomacy.

5. Summary: As the Allied commander have made three mistakes 1. Lost BB because I didn’t move it. 2. Lost 2 CVs at Malta I assumed too much. 3. Lost a couple of ships in North Sea by not playing defensively when I was weak. These mistakes haven’t hurt me to much as Germans and Italy have also taken a blood bath at sea. Axis has lost 2 subs, 3 BBs, and 6 other ships. Allies have lost 3 BBs, 2 CVs (ugh,) 5 other ships. Numbers are 28 brits, 3 USSR in Baltic, and 17 Axis. A 33 to 17 edge. (I didn’t count ships in Black Sea.) I am satisfied with my Russian defense. As for Egypt we will see. USA looks like might not come in in December. I can only hope.
