Losses screen does not add up?

Ever since I started tracking losses with a spreadsheet I have noticed the totals screen occasionally does not add up from the losses given for logistics and action phases of Axis and Soviets. This happens for example to about one aircraft model every 10 turns. Rare enough that I am pretty certain I have the right method for calculating what it should be, but often enough I am suspecting a bug. Or is there something I am missing?

Here is an example for Hurricanes end of turn 38 - 258 lost

Start of turn 39 we see in the logistics phase Hurricanes - 3 lost

Start of turn 39 we see in the soviet action phase Hurricanes - 14 lost

Start of turn 39 we see in the axis action phase Hurricanes - 0 lost (it is the start of our turn)

There are of course no soviet aircraft losses in the Axis logistics phase

Start of turn 39 we see total losses of Hurricanes - 271

But this is 4 less then 258+3+14 - why?

I have the PBEM save files for this and other examples

I will have to look whether it's calculating correctly. If there would be more total than by phase it would be better, because that would mean I just forgot to add accounting by phase is some place. But as it is the other way round - I have no idea!

I have actually identified four instances now where this has happened with aircraft - and interestingly it is always that way round not the other way?

I have PBEM saves for all of them.

Keep them, they may become handy (if this happens in logistics phase).

Just been doing a similar exercise with AFV losses and audited and double checked several examples where this error seems to also occur. Again I have the PBEM saves.

Would it be right to say this is an irreparable bug but only presentational? We just have to accept that the losses screen display is wrong?

I have found only this (but it's not your bug):

17. Fixed a bug where some aircraft kills on the ground might have been not recorded as specific aircraft model (and type) losses.

Other than that I have no idea - memory corruption (some fixed in next version, but we'll never know if there aren't some more), or loading newer server game under older patch (also fixed in next version).

Start of turn 56 1 TB3 lost in Soviet action turn - but still only 236 TB3s lost!

All the differences have been minor so far and I understand this is irreparable. Just uploading these to keep a record.

Can you compare what changed in air groups using those planes between those two moments? It's good that it's a less popular plane, it should be easier to do it.

I had a look at the save that came back (turn 56). Going through all the on map battle reports no TB3 used at all during the Soviet action turn. Indeed very few battles and no Soviet bombers used at all during the Soviet action turn. However the losses screen indicates it was lost during the Soviet action phase.

Understand. I am usually quite happy to dig and screenshot, I only give the references in case you do want it in future. But at least for the moment password barred there. I know many on the Soviet team are now busy with real life so might be a while. But as the teams are exchanging passwords it might be someone on the Axis side will be able to dig it out and screenshot it for here instead?
