Game Lockup on Hero Creation

Whilst moving a stack of troops the enemy carried out opportunity fire and hit. One unit was shaken, one ok. Then I had a hero created, and at that point the game completely locked up. Was playing the Partizans Defence scenario on Introductory level, only been playing this a couple of days.
Playing the game on a laptop with 7th Gen i7, 16Gb DDR4, GFX 1060 6GB, 4K screen resolution, if this helps.
