Question on warship systems distribution

Post by gbethel »

Are there any best practices or contemporary trends regarding weight distribution of systems in a warship? For example, given a ship's loaded displacement of 1000 tons, what would be a reasonable percentage distribution of weight for armor, weaponry(including ammo), propulsion (including fuel), and sensors?

I understand that systems distribution would be a factor of a vessel's design goals and operating environment. I am just looking for general guidelines.

Do you know of any reading material that deals with this topic?

Most interesting, for one that works in the shipbuilding industry.
