Hi Bill
Do you know if that old bids program is still around, or is it still being used with this new version? 1.22.02?

The GAP utility which is used for bids at game start is indeed compatible with the latest v 1.22.02 and is still available in the game downloads.

It downloads OK for me from the link HERE?

I am attaching the file just in case you still have a problem. And its small enough to post at Generals HQ if you want to do that.

On the topic of bids, I looked at average bids a while ago and renormalized them to EiANW with its max of 30. Some players may find this useful:
David Holmes compiled this average winning bid chart and posted it to the EiA Mailing List on 18 Aug 1997.
MAJOR POWER AVERAGE BID SAMPLES
Britain 32.9 21
France 36.7 21
Russia 27.4 21
Austria 12.1 19
Prussia 6.1 18
Spain 5.5 18
Turkey 3.1 18

Note: Bids are capped at 30 Victory Points to curb astronomical bidding for France or Britain.

So, renormalizing the above bids to max 30, we get:

Britain 32.9 26.9 27
France 36.7 30.0 30
Russia 27.4 22.4 22
Austria 12.1 9.9 10
Prussia 6.1 5.0 5
Spain 5.5 4.5 4
Turkey 3.1 2.5 3

To clean this up for the Main Menu:

France 30
Great Britain 27
Spain 4
Prussia 5
Turkey 3
Russia 22
Austria 10

The file is attached in my post above, at bottom. You could also search your PC files for "EiAPBEMGAP"?
